The Profit Power of Free

The following is a response I gave to a CEO that asked me a question on how to grow their audience on Twitter.
I am going to leave their name out because I don;t have permission to use it but I thought it may help someone else out there.
Think of twitter as you would any other networking you do except it is online and with a lot more folks. So don’t look at networking here as growing your audience, look at it as building your network and your reputation. Share good material and interact from time to time and your audience will build itself.
If you picture it like a networking event in a large room. You introduce yourself and ask someone how you can help them. They ask you a question and you don’t just tell them what your fee is, you then begin dropping knowledge bombs on them left and right and a crowd starts to gather because you have such good info. You interacted with one or two people but the crowd built itself.
People start gathering and you can’t get to all their questions so they seek you out and find everything they can about how you can help them. They go to your site, buy your book and you didn’t even have to sell it to them.
That is pretty much twitter. So you do have to invest some time to reap the most rewards.
